Noteworthy:

In his seventh career TA2 start, the 14-year-old McKee emerged in first place in the provisional driver standings after scoring his third consecutive top-three finish among the TA2 national series competitors. McKee was second two races ago at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway, his first career TA2 podium, then third the following weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.
Boes, the defending Pro-Am Challenge champion, scored his fourth class podium in five races this season with his third-place finish among the nine Pro-Am competitors in this weekend’s 26-car field. Boes entered the weekend with a 16-point lead in the Pro-Am standings over second-place and fellow M1 Racecars driver Jared Odrick, who finished fifth in class Saturday in the No. 00 Black Underwear/CoolBoxx Chevrolet Camaro for Troy Benner Autosport.
Skeen, who qualified second in his No. 2 Guthrie’s Garage/M1 Racecars Chevrolet Camaro for the second race in a row, earned the Omologato Fastest Lap of the Race award for the second consecutive race. He held his position in the top-two until the race’s midpoint, when he was bumped off track on a restart.

“That was something. We started it out in the dry, then it got wet, then it started to dry toward the end there, and then it got wet again, so it was an interesting race. I don’t have a lot of rain experience, so it was a good, new thing to learn, especially racing with all the other cars out there. I’ve just got to thank Gainbridge, Spire, HendrickCars.com, all the TeamSLR guys, Jeff Dickerson (Spire Motorsports owner), and Josh Wise and Scott Speed at Chevrolet for preparing me so well for all these races. Talking about being in the points lead definitely means something, but we’re here to win races.”

Connor Mosack, Driver No. 8 NAPA NightVision/Mission Foods/SLR-M1 Racecars Chevrolet Camaro:

“First of all, I had a lot of fun and a really good NAPA NightVision/Mission Foods Camaro. Thanks to Scott Lagasse Jr., and all the TeamSLR guys for bringing that. Obviously, it wasn’t the result we wanted, but we had a car definitely capable of winning the race, we were competitive with the leaders on lap times all day. We had a caution, and on the restart I didn’t know we were going green until the pace car was pulling onto pit road, so I didn’t have time to really clean my tires or anything. It all happened so fast I didn’t really have time to think about it. We went down into turn one and they all stacked up on the bottom. I popped to the outside and tried to roll, but I just kind of got caught off guard with the restart and didn’t do a good job cleaning my tires and went off. Definitely frustrated with that. Then, when we had to pit for rain tires, it dropped us off the lead lap, but I was able to drive forward and almost unlap myself before the caution came out again. We had good pace when it was wet and ultimately ended up seventh, the first car a lap down, so I feel we probably could’ve run second or third if we had been up there, maybe even had a shot to win. I feel like I learned some new things, even having raced here a few times, and know what to expect when I’ll be back here in the (NASCAR) truck at the end of next month. I have a fresh knowledge of the surface, what it’s like driving the rain, so I definitely feel like I had some good takeaways.”

Barry Boes, Driver No. 27 Accio Data/SLR-M1 Racecars Chevrolet Camaro:

“It was an incredibly fun race. Had a little bad luck early on when I got held up by a broken car and then I got punted in turn one. But we got back on track, stayed on the lead lap, came in for tire a tire change, and unfortunately we had a tool break and fell a lap down. I needed to run down some guys if I was going to get on the podium and that ended up happening. That was as close of a photo finish as I think we could get there (with Cale Phillips) for second. And Keith Prociuk is an incredible guy, incredible competitor, so it’s fun to see him at the top of the podium. I want to say thank you to Accio Data, TeamSLR, and the Trans Am Series for making this all happen.”

Next Up

Round six of the 2025 Cube 3 Architecture TA2 Series campaign is the Mid-Ohio SpeedTour on June 20-22 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington. The weekend begins with a pair of TA2 test sessions at 11:25 a.m. and 4:05 p.m. EDT Friday (June 20). Official TA2 practice is set for 10:50 a.m. Saturday (June 21, followed by qualifying at 3:35 p.m. The 45-lap, 75-minute race around the 2.258-mile, 13-turn circuit is set for 1:35 p.m. Sunday (June 22) with live streaming video provided by Speed Sport 1, with simulcast coverage on the Trans Am channel on YouTube.
