Mosack Closes Season with Runnerup Finish, Third in TA2 Championship; Liesfeld 23rd

Overview:

Date:  Nov. 7, 2021

Event:  Heacock Classic (Round 12 of 12)

Series:  Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli (TA2)

Location:  Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas

Layout:  3.426-mile, 20-turn road course

Format:  30 laps or 75 minutes

Race Winner:  Rafa Matos of Peterson Racing

TeamSLR:

• Connor Mosack – Started 3rd, Finished 2nd (Running, completed 29/29 laps)

• Chris Liesfeld – Started 26th, Finished 23rd (Running, completed 29/29 laps)

Connor Mosack, Driver No. 28, TeamSLR:

“At the end of the race, I think we had a second-place car. We just didn’t have enough for Rafa (Matos). We were kind of matching lap times with him on the last four or five laps, but I was giving it about all I had and I think he was just riding, saving his stuff. If we would’ve had another restart, we might’ve been able to do something, maybe out-brake him, but he had a little bit of speed on us so it would’ve been a little bit tough to keep him behind us if we had gotten by. So, overall, I’m pretty happy with second for today.”

Chris Liesfeld, Driver No. 96, TeamSLR:

“We didn’t start in the best position, but we were able to work our way through the field. I made some contact with another car and lost some positions. From there, I was struggling with some braking issues and a little bit of handling after making the contact. After working up through the field, I kind of went backward and I finished where I finished. For next year, we’ll be doing some more races, for sure, probably starting in late spring. This year was a good chance to shake the cobwebs off. My advice to young guys who are racing: ‘Don’t stop, because it’s really tough to get back in the groove.’ (Laughs.)”
