Scott Lagasse Jr. and NASCAR Gander Outdoor & RV Truck Series team, On Point Motorsports accomplished their goals Sunday at the famous Daytona International Speedway road course. Scott Jr. wheeled the Brantley Gilbert/ Big Machine Record and Screen Your Machine Toyota Tundra to another top-10 finish adding to his impressive results at Daytona in this series. Lagasse Jr.’s recent finishes in the truck series at Daytona’s are 9th, 7th, 5th, and a career best 3rd place.
Before this weekend, the team nor driver had ever run a single lap with this truck. With no practice or qualifying, Lagasse Jr. and his team would start the Sunoco 159 in 30th position. However, throughout the 44-lap race, Lagasse Jr. would steadily work his way through the field, avoid many incidents and be in contention at the end of the race. Lagasse Jr. and entire team brought the Brantley Gilbert/ Big Machine Record and Screen Your Machine Toyota Tundra for On Point Motorsports, home in the 9th position.
“First, thank you to On Point Motorsports for the opportunity, Big Machine Records and Brantley Gilbert for their support and Dr. Lance Willsey for his involvement with Screen Your Machine in our farewell to Gary Grossenbacher. I am grateful to have the racing community’s support in honoring my late friend Gary, he was a great guy, and will be missed by many. Throughout the race we fought a brake issue on the longer runs, so I needed to use them carefully, saving them for late in the race. Bones (Steve Lane- crew chief) and our engineer made many great decisions on pit strategy which kept us alive and provided the opportunity to get back to the front. I also had a terrific spotter in Jason Jarrett, and we all worked really well together. I look forward to teaming up with James Whitener and the On Point Motorsports team in the near future,” said Lagasse Jr.
